Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide has been studied by scientists since the 1970s. It is a small peptide made of 9 amino acids. At first, researchers thought it might help control sleep, especially deep sleep called slow-wave sleep. Early studies on animals showed that it could increase deep sleep activity and affect brain signals. It was also thought to have an effect on body rhythms, hormones, and stress responses. Later reviews concluded that DSIP shows a wide range of physiological effects, including possible impacts on:
